The Open Teleport

The Open Teleport

The Open Teleport is USEI’s customer-agnostic global ground infrastructure, bringing together East and West Coast U.S. teleports, international facilities, more than 190 antennas, redundant MPLS fibre connectivity, and over 40 globally distributed remote earth stations, all managed through a centralized Network Operations Center.

Built on a long-standing philosophy of openness and neutrality, USEI does not compete with its customers by offering managed services. Instead, we provide reliable RF uplink/downlink services, teleport hosting, and infrastructure support to any customer, regardless of size, application, or market segment.

This open, transparent approach extends across our domestic and international facilities, enabling customers to leverage world-class ground infrastructure while maintaining full control of their services and end-user relationships.

Excellence in custom design, engineering and operations makes our infrastructure deliver what you need. Excellence in customer service and support is what keeps customers working with us for decades. This combination supports the leading-edge applications of our industry.

Multi-band, multi-orbit connectivity

USEI manages a global network of antennas providing GEO, MEO and LEO connectivity as standalone solutions or hybrid architectures offering extreme uptime and throughput for a wide range of government and commercial customers.

Highly secure networks

USEI has served military and civilian government agencies since its founding in the Eighties. We provide deep experience and expertise for highly secure satellite transmission, reception, encoding, decoding and transit to designated  portals.  Applications range from signal intelligence and reconnaissance to C4I and morale communications.

Antenna hosting and equipment colocation

USEI hosts customer-owned antennas and terminal equipment at its teleports and fully supports them with high-quality operations and maintenance services. Colocation hosting extends to customer-owned baseband and network equipment.

RF Monitoring

In a communications environment increasingly challenged by congestion, interference and jamming, USEI provides advanced RF monitoring to maintain quality of service for the applications we support.

USEI will offer optical satellite communications as a commercial service from teleports in the US and around the world. Each system will be capable of delivering 10 Gbps throughput, integrated into USEI’s satellite and terrestrial communications architecture. DiamondLink service will take advantage of the technology’s inherent low probability of intercept (LPI), low probability of detection (LPD), low probability of exploitation (LPE) and anti-jamming capabilities.

Video origination and distribution

Beginning in 2008, USEI pioneered end-to-end IP video streaming solutions, from satellite through the internet and directly to end users. We specialize in providing flexible, high-quality video distribution tailored for content providers, broadcasters, and event organizers. Our capabilities support a wide range of applications, including content acquisition, venue-to-multipoint delivery, and point-to-point transmission. With a technology-agnostic approach, we integrate both established industry standards and emerging innovations – such as SRT, AWS, Zixi, and CDN-over-satellite – to ensure optimal performance and reliability with seamless switching among redundant IP paths.

Earth observation

The global reach of USEI’s high-capacity satellite and terrestrial network makes it ideal for managing  massive data downloads from optical, SAR and RF EO satellites serving military, government and commercial missions.

Launch support

USEI supports customers conducting Launch and Early Orbit (LEOP), Transfer Orbit Support Services (TOSS) and IOT (In-Orbit Testing) to manage the launch, orbital insertion and testing of new satellites entering service.

Our unrelenting focus on technical design, engineering and operation makes USEI a strong partner for research and development in satellite and space technologies.

Our R&D work is pioneering the application of leading-edge technologies to make military and commercial satellite communications more robust and protect the near-Earth space domain on which it depends. These include blockchain, distributed ledgers, 5th generation communications, mesh radio, zero-trust networks and RF and optical sensors.

Among other projects, we are applying leading-edge technologies to ensure reliable communications even in the most highly contested environments to improve the physical and cyber security of electric grids. By analyzing RF signals and antenna positioning data, we created systems to improve space domain awareness, orbit determination and anomaly detection in satcom links.
